Oil really makes a tan “pop”, especially in a deep tan, but it does tend to soak in quickly. So my advice is to oil up, give it 10 or 15 minutes, apply more & then do the photos. You get a stunning effect in bright sun or bright lights if done right. And you look good well-oiled!!
